JURIST Project to host knowledge exchange on regional sexual offences courts

The Judicial Reform and Institutional Strengthening (JURIST) Project will host a virtual collaborative
knowledge exchange which will look at the implementation of the Model Guidelines for Sexual
Offence Cases in the Caribbean Region, in Antigua and Barbuda (through the Sexual Offences Model
Court—SOMC), and through the Sexual Offences Courts in Guyana.

The two-day knowledge exchange and co-generation workshop will be held on March 4 and 10, 2022
and will include key stakeholder participation from both jurisdictions and elsewhere in the region.
The objectives of the knowledge exchange are as follows:

  • To connect the Antigua and Barbuda SOMC and Guyana Sexual Offence Courts to enable
them to share their experiences, achievements, challenges, best practices, and learnings in
    applying the Model Guidelines.
  • To further develop strategies to advance the implementation of the Model Guidelines and
sexual offence courts in each jurisdiction and in the region; and
  • To develop knowledge products that capture lessons, strategies and best practices, for use
by the SOMC, the Guyana Sexual Offence Courts and other jurisdictions in the region.
